Since its first vintage in 1985, Coldstream Hills has built an enviable reputation for producing outstanding and distinctive wines from the Yarra Valley; in particular the hero varieties of the region, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The overriding winemaking philosophy at Coldstream Hills is, and always has been, to express the individuality and nuance of each vineyard and to craft wines that demonstrate the uniqueness and pedigree of the Yarra Valley.
At our Yarra Valley Estate, we are fortunate enough to have some of the oldest plantings in the Yarra Valley region. These carefully cultivated vines are handled with care and each year continue to produce exceptional quality fruit. From this fruit we produce a range of wines to suit every palate and every pocket.
Chandon Australia is nestled in the captivating Yarra Valley, one of Australia’s oldest and most prestigious wine regions. The wine industry began its journey in the region when three brothers: William, James and Donald Ryrie, planted the very first vines in the early 1800s. An illustrious award winning history in the 1800’s, based mainly on exports to Europe, ended with the world economic slow down at the turn of the 19th century.
Our Yarra Valley winery was named after the famous Melbourne inner city thoroughfare that joins the northern suburbs to the south. The inspiration came from a photograph from 1856
which shows Punt Road as it meets the Yarra River. The only way across the river was via the punt, hence the road’s name. What caught our imagination was the hill in the background; while now a major part of the suburb of South Yarra, back then it was an expansive vineyard and one of the first planted in
Victoria. It’s hard to believe that the busy road of today was once not much more than a dirt track and some of Melbourne’s most expensive real estate was
once a vineyard. This is a little known part of Melbourne’s history and through our name, many people now know the story. Punt Road Winery & Cellardoor, opened 7 days, 10am - 5pm, www.puntroadwines.com.au 10 St. Huberts Road, Coldstream, VIC (03) 9739 0666 email@example.com

Leon and Rita Tokar soon started entertaining friends and family members by opening up their cherished new home to all those wanting to get away from the 'hustle and bustle' of City living for a day or two.
